OpMD – New Brunswick

OpMD is a program offered by the New Brunswick Military Resource Centre that connects Canadian Armed Forces families with a family doctor.

Who is eligible?

All serving CAF members’ dependents and spouses are welcome to access this program.

How does the program work?

As providers have capacity in their practice, they will contact the OpMD program to advise that they are able to take patients. OpMD will then select the appropriate number of patients from the registry and send their information to the doctor or nurse practitioner. Patients will be advised via email or phone they are being assigned to a provider.

How long will I wait?

It is important to note that it is difficult to tell exactly how long patients will have to wait since there are many things that impact the regions patient capacity; area, recruiting by the regional health authorities, etc. Our goal is always to match families with the least amount of delays.

How to apply?

Apply by completing our  Family Referral Form.

You can submit the form in person at the New Brunswick MFRC or by email to Lisa O'Blenis.

If you have any questions, please contact Lisa by phone, email or visit the MFRC.

If you are sick and without a family doctor:

If sick and it is not urgent we would encourage you to visit  the after-hours clinics we have in our region or call Telecare which is a free, confidential, health advice and information line. Dial 811 for access to bilingual, registered nurses, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In case of an emergency call 911 or visit the local emergency department.
