Major Donald Viel
Major Donald Viel of the 34th Service Battalion completed the Canyons Endurance 100 Mile trail race in California on April 25 and 26. This 160 km race, renowned for its difficulty, crosses China Wall National Park. Thanks to rigorous physical preparation and the support of his family, he finished the race in 32 hours and 18 minutes, receiving the belt buckle awarded to participants who complete the race in under 35 hours. Proud of this accomplishment, he is now setting his sights on the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, a 171 km race through the Alps. Congratulations to Major Viel on this impressive achievement. Capt Leone
Captain Valérie Leone, Brigade Personel selection Officer at the 34e Canadian Brigade Group (34 CBG) won the Female Athlete of the Year award at the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Sports Awards Ceremony, which took place in Ottawa on October 18.Click here to read the full article

Sailor 2nd Jake Gouchie-Provencher
While participating in the Fencing Canada Cup on October 14, 2023, Naval Communications Specialist (HMCS Donnacona’s) Naval Communications Specialist, Sailor 2nd Jake Gouchie-Provencher, earned a 21th in epee senior men's category. He is also a member of the CISM fencing team, and trains 2-3 times a week to hone his skills.Click here to read the full article

Matc Beaumont
On September 14, 2023, the prestigious obstacle course competition was held in Valcartier (PFO). Against all odds, Matc Beaumont made the Naval Reserve shine, finishing on the podium. Despite her limited training time, and with the determination and drive of a former world-class mountain biker, she managed to finish 2nd in her category. Quite a feat, given the sheer scale of this event, both physically and mentally. The PFO competition is part of Exercise RESILIENCE of 5th Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group. The EX RESILIENCE PFO showcases the commitment, skill and determination of military personnel. Matc Beaumont is an inspiration to his peers and to future generations.

Cpl Nicolas Beauregard
In May 2023, Corporal Nicolas Beauregard, Mobile Support Equipment Operator with the 34th Canadian Services Battalion, was on the island of Ibiza, Spain, for the World Triathlon Multisport Championships, where he took part in an aquathlon event (1 km swim and 5 km run). Cpl Beauregard took up triathlon in 2015, and since then he has competed in a number of events, including triathlons, foot races and aquathlons. The Canadian team member has every intention of returning to aquathlon at the 2025 World Multisport Championships, to be held in Pontevedra, Spain. His dedication to his sport is truly inspiring.
