  • University of Alberta | Canadian Military Members & Veterans Supports
    The University of Alberta welcomes CAF members and Veterans, offering dedicated services to support their transition into post secondary studies. Supports include a Military & Veteran Friendly Campus (MVFC) advisory committee, tailored academic and transition services, planning and advising supports, and information on funding such as the Veterans Affairs Education and Training Benefit.

  • Algonquin College | Pembroke Campus

    Located near Garrison Petawawa, the Pembroke Campus offers dedicated support for CAF members, Veterans, and military families. Through a formal collaboration with the Garrison, the campus provides tailored services including military bursaries, transportation allowances, and career transition support. 

    Financial aid options include Project Hero and the Ottawa Senators Military Bursary, while programs like “Success Strategies for Military Spouses” help build confidence and readiness for post-secondary education or new career paths.

  • British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

    BCIT is a public polytechnic institute located in British Columbia, Canada, offering applied education via certificates, diplomas, bachelor's degrees and micro-credentials across fields such as business, computing, health sciences, engineering, trades and transportation.

  • Fanshawe College | Military-Connected College
    Fanshawe College is Canada’s first officially designated Military-Connected College, offering comprehensive support to CAF members, Veterans, Reservists, and their families. The initiative includes academic credit for military experience, individualized advising, Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), and access to bursaries and scholarships. Programs like the Civilian Military Leadership Pilot Initiative (CMLPI) and the Military-Connected Student in Trades Pilot Program (MCSTPP) help students transition into skilled trades and civilian careers. Fanshawe also partners with Helmets to Hardhats and MSEN to expand employment and education pathways.

  • Georgian College | Military-Connected College
    Georgian College is committed to supporting military-connected learners - including currently serving CAF members, Veterans, Reservists, DND civil servants, and their families - through a barrier-free and inclusive academic environment. Designated a military-connected college in 2022, Georgian offers flexible course delivery, credit recognition for military experience, mental health supports, and a Military Veterans Club. 

    The college also collaborates with other Ontario institutions to streamline credit transfers and enrollment for students affected by postings or relocations.

  • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) | Military Connected Learners Education Pathways | Portage College, Loyalist College & NSCC
    Loyalist College (Ontario), Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC), and Portage College (Alberta) formalized a new partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The agreement recognizes the unique challenges of those within our country’s military community wishing to further their education. Whether deployed domestically, internationally, or conducting daily operations, CAF families often face distinct hurdles in pursuing education due to the additional burdens of service – including the need for frequent interprovincial moves.

    The MOU frames the collaborative discussions of the three colleges, drawing from each institution’s programming and supports to enhance sharing arrangements that:

    •    maximize credit transfer
    •    streamline enrolment procedures
    •    share prior learning recognition strategies
    •    allow for late entry (two weeks post-program start)
    •    recognize military-connected learners as a unique group requiring additional supports.

  • University of Windsor | National Commitment to Support Military-Connected Students
    The University of Windsor has officially joined the Canadian Military, Veteran and Family Connected Campus Consortium (CMVF3C), a national network of postsecondary institutions committed to improving support, access, and success for military-connected students and their families. This partnership aims to enhance campus services, such as academic accommodations, peer mentorship, and awareness initiatives, to better address challenges faced by military students (e.g., frequent relocations and academic transitions).

Financial Aid, Scholarships & Bursaries

  • Scholarship Program | Canada Company
    The Scholarship Program provides up to $5,000 per year to support the post-secondary and post-graduate education for children who qualify. In 2007, Canada Company established the Scholarship Program to recognize the sacrifice Canada’s military members make in service to our country, and to honour their legacy through the children they have left behind.

  • Scholarships & Loans | Support Our Troops

    This program supports Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and their families by offering scholarships, low-interest study loans, bursaries, and tutoring to help with continuing and post-secondary education.

  • Region-Specific Grants | Support Our Troops
    A program of Support Our Troops that provides additional, region-specific funding beyond national programs, enabling military members, veterans and their families to access grants based on their province. Examples include spouse training/education, children’s sports/activity costs, tablets for deployed members’ children, and transition support.

    Coding for Veterans, in partnership with the University of Ottawa, offers a 100% online, instructor-led, self-paced, flexible program which gives veterans an opportunity to join the tech industry and start a career in software development and cyber security.

  • Employment Ontario | Employment North
    A community-based employment services organization serving the Muskoka and Almaguin Highlands regions of Ontario. They offer free personalized support for job seekers including career planning, resume building, interview preparation, and connections to local employers.

    Alberta’s Employment Services help job seekers and employers connect through career planning, job search assistance, training supports, hiring resources, and labour market information.   • Ontario Streamlining Pathways for Veterans into Skilled Trades | Government of Ontario
    The Ontario government has introduced proposals and investments to help Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, veterans, and their spouses transition into careers in the skilled trades by recognizing military-acquired credentials, accelerating certification processes, and aligning training with civilian trades requirements. The plan includes changes to regulatory frameworks, recognition of military occupations as equivalent trade certifications, and investments in training programs through the Skills Development Fund (e.g., free coding and tech training).
