Caring for Those Who Care
Supporting a veteran can be deeply meaningful—but it can also be emotionally, physically, and mentally demanding. Whether you're a spouse, family member, close friend, or another primary caregiver, you deserve support too.
This educational workshop explores caregiver stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue experienced by those supporting Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) veterans, particularly while navigating complex health, mental health, and transition-related challenges.
What You'll Learn
During this workshop, participants will:
-
Recognize the signs and impacts of caregiver stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue.
-
Better understand how ongoing caregiving can affect personal well-being and relationships.
-
Explore practical, evidence-informed strategies to build resilience and maintain healthy boundaries.
-
Discover ways to support themselves while continuing to support the veteran in their life.
Connect with Others
Caregiving can feel isolating. This workshop also provides an opportunity to connect with others who understand the caregiving experience, exchange perspectives, and begin building a supportive peer network.
