Youth of Parents who've Experienced Trauma

Understand what’s going on. Learn how to handle it. Feel stronger doing it.

  • 0900 - 1700
  • Kingston Military Family Resource Centre
This two-day educational workshop supports youth in understanding and navigating life with a parent affected by an operational stress injury (OSI).
  • Are you looking for ways to cope with your parent’s OSI?
  • Have you ever felt like you’re the only one going through this?
Through guided discussions, interactive activities, and peer connection, participants will gain practical tools, build resilience, and feel more supported in their experience.

Who This Is For
Youth ages 12–17 who have a parent or guardian experiencing an operational stress injury, including:
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Addiction
This workshop is designed for youth in CAF and Veteran families.

Why This Matters
Living with a parent experiencing an OSI can bring changes that are difficult to understand.
Youth may notice:
  • Changes in behaviour or mood
  • Increased stress at home
  • Uncertainty about how to respond or help
This workshop helps youth better understand what’s happening while building confidence in how to navigate it.
