The Family Care Assistance Program (FCAP) provides short-term financial support to help families access care for their dependants. This support allows families to take part in opportunities that build resilience and support overall personal and family well-being.
FCAP can be used both as a preventative resource and as support during times of increased need or crisis. It is designed to offer flexible, short-term assistance to help families navigate challenges and strengthen their networks of support.
Requests are reviewed individually and may include:
- Emergency family care assistance
- Deployment and work-related absences
- Respite care
- Relocation support
- Illness or injury
- Death of an immediate family member
- Participation in approved MFS programs
- Family counselling-related care needs
Families may also be connected with additional community resources and longer-term support options when appropriate.
