Q and A - Day Camp Courcelette

Hello dear parents of our future campers,

Like every year, Camp de jour Courcelette will be holding an information evening for parents who have registered their child(ren) at our day camp.

  • The meeting will take place in person, at Community Center, building 93 on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 6:30pm.

The purpose of the meeting?

We will explain how the camp works and answer all your questions. Several topics will be covered, such as arrivals/departures, a typical day's schedule, the equipment needed to spend a quality day, sanitary measures, camp sites, etc.

Did you miss the Parent Information Evening?

  • You can read a summary of the evening after the parent information session.

Here are the most frequently asked questions about Courcelette day camp:

  • Where is the camp being offered

The Courcelette day camp takes place at the Valcartier Community Center, building 93.

    • This is where all arrivals and departures will take place.

Your children will have access to several other locations, such as Alexander-Wolff School, the outdoor pool, and all nearby parks.

We ask that parents refrain from visiting the various sites and always go through the Community Center for any special situations.

  • Is there priority registration?
For the year 2026, there is no priority registration.

All eligible participants will be able to register as of March 31 at 6:00 p.m.
    • If you are deployed on the same day as camp registration, you will be entitled to priority registration.
    • Proof of deployment will be required.
  • My child's age group is full. What are my options?

You must register your child on the waiting list for the desired week, according to your child's age group, to be on the recall list if places become available or groups are added.

EX : Waiting list week 2 - 5-6 years old

  • What is the theme of the camp?

The overall theme of the camp is to be determine. The weekly themes will vary from one week to another to allow the children to live the whole theme.

  • Do you go on outing?

    Semaine 8 - The week of August 17, 18 & 19, 2026 is a week of outings

    • Every day, the children will go to a different place

Here are the outings planned for summer 2026:

  • Will my child go to the pool?

    Yes, Monday through Thursday

    • A pool session is scheduled for all groups, unless the weather does not permit swimming.
    • Children will also have a pool workshop one morning per week. We use the heated outdoor pool.
  • Who are the swim tests for and what do they involve?

Please note that 5 and 6 year olds will automatically wear a PFD or go to the wading pool (without a PFD at this time).

To be exempted from the swim test, the child must have passed Swimmer 4 or higher.

Proof should be sent by e-mail to aquatiquevalcartier@sbmfc.com.

For pool periods and water outings (e.g. beach), we ask that children who do not pass the swim test recommended by the Association des camps du Québec, the Lifesaving Society and the Red Cross wear a flotation jacket (PFD).

For details of the swim test, please consult the Day Camp Swim Test page.

  • How do children move between sites?

The children travel in groups, on foot, and always supervised by animators, for activities at Vanier Park,  Garceau Park, Alexander-Wolff shcool or the outdoor pool.

In addition, the average travel time is 5 to 8 minutes depending on the departure site. If transportation is required to a more distant site, we use our minibus or a school bus.

  • My child is 4 years old, can he/she participate in the camp?

If your child will be 5 years old before September 30, 2025, he or she may enroll in camps for 5-year-olds.

  • My child is over 12 years old, can he/she participate in the camp?

If your child turns 13 before September 30, they are unfortunately no longer eligible for the Courcelette Day Camp.

However, they are eligible for the Junior Lions Camp.

  • Is the Courcelette Day Camp tax deductible?
