Create, connect, and celebrate culture.
Join us for a welcoming, family-friendly Bannock & Berries Indigenous workshop celebrating traditional foods, land-based learning, and cultural connection.
Led by a Métis Knowledge Keeper, families will enjoy a guided walk through the parkland, learn about traditional plants and ingredients, watch a bannock-making demonstration, and share a sampling of traditional foods, including berry soup, fry bread, and bannock.
This workshop supports gender-based violence (GBV) prevention by strengthening family connections, promoting respect and kindness, and sharing teachings about caring for one another. Through cultural learning and shared experiences, families can build trust, foster a sense of belonging, and model healthy, respectful relationships in a safe and welcoming environment. These are all important protective factors that help families thrive and align with the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence, which emphasizes prevention through promoting healthy, respectful relationships.
Please note, we cannot guarantee that food allergies or dietary restrictions can be accommodated for this workshop. Participants will be provided with an ingredients list on the day of the event.
