On-demand virtual health care through the MFRC

Access to health care and adaptation to the health care system are major issues for military families who, because of their lifestyle, are required to travel and must wait several months before obtaining a family doctor when they arrive in Quebec.

Through contacts with health care authorities and the availability of resources dedicated to military families, the MFRC assists families with taking the necessary procedures and their efforts.

Akira by TELUS Health

The MFRC is pleased to announce the signing of a partnership with a telemedicine program: Akira by TELUS Health.

This program allows you to contact Canadian nurse practitioners and physicians by telephone, text message or secure video. It is therefore particularly well adapted to people who do not have a family physician by giving them many services without going to private or walk-in clinics.

Akira by TELUS Health renews prescriptions, gives referrals to health specialists, submits laboratory analysis requests and gives virtual consultations on non-urgent health issues, such as colds and flu, sinus irritations and allergies, infections and certain digestive disorders.

The MFRC supports community members by taking over some Akira by TELUS Health licences itself upon request. These licences will be given in priority to families who meet the vulnerability criteria defined by MFRC social workers.

For more information, please contact the MFRC by sending an email to svcPersCRFMSoutienPsyStJean@forces.gc.ca. We will then contact you to establish your eligibility for the service.
