PSP Facilities Code of Conduct

Members and visitors to the 9 Wing Fitness & Recreation Centre are held to a code of conduct when using all areas of the facility.

As a member, participant or visitor, you agree to follow our Code of Conduct, which is based on the values of caring, honesty, responsibility and respect.

The following behaviors are prohibited in all PSP facilities, programs and online communities

1. Inappropriate Attire 

Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. It is prohibited to wear clothing with vulgar language, obscene images, racial slurs or anything that contributes to a hostile environment or is inappropriate for a family environment.  Proper indoor footwear must be worn in all areas of the facility.  Flip flops and sandals are not appropriate for working out with weights and on cardio equipment.

2. Gym Bags and Back Packs

Gym bags and back packs are not allowed in the weight and cardio areas of the Fitness & Recreation Centre; lockers are available for day use and long term.

3.  Inappropriate Language 

Any hostile or vulgar language, including swearing, shouting, or name-calling. 

4.  Threatening Physical Contact 

Any threatening or hostile physical contact with another person, including play fighting. 

5.  Sexual Activity 

Any demonstration of sexual activity or sexual contact with another person. 

6.  Harassment/Intimidation 

May include, but is not limited to, repeated incidents or a pattern of behavior that is intended to intimidate, offend, degrade or humiliate a particular person or group of people. It has also been described as the assertion of power through aggression. 

7.  Theft/Destruction of Property

Any theft or behavior that results in the destruction of property. 

8.  Weapons 

Being in possession of anything used, designed to be used or intended for use in causing death or injury to any person or for the purpose of threatening or intimidating any person and, without restricting the generality of the foregoing, includes a firearm. 

9.  Alcohol or Drugs (including cannabis) 

Possessing, using or selling recreational or illicit/illegal drugs or alcohol at the 9 Wing Gander Fitness and Recreation Centre, and/or during sponsored programs is not permitted in any regard. 

Additionally, access to PSP facilities is not permitted while under the influence of the above-mentioned substances. 

10.  Inappropriate Conduct 

 Any conduct of an inappropriate, threatening or offensive nature.

 11.  Loitering 

 Loitering is not permitted in or outside of facilities or programs. 

12.  Electronic Device Usage 

a.  An individual may not use an electronic device to record audio content, take photographs, record videos, and/or make any other type of recordings with an electronic device in a PSP facility; and 

b.  If the preceding directions with regards to device usage are in anyway broken and/or ignored, individuals will be asked to delete any of audio content, photographs, videos and/or other type of recordings immediately. Refusal to do so may result in administrative and/or disciplinary action. 

13.  Tobacco 

The use of tobacco or similar products, including e-cigarettes and vapes, is not permitted in or outside of fitness or recreational facilities and programs unless in designated areas. 

14.  Client Training

No client (day user or member) may train another client. 

15.  Identification Rules and Regulations 

All patrons of the Fitness and Recreation Centre are expected to have proper form of identification when entering PSP Facilities. 9 Wing military members, associate and monthly members are REQUIRED to scan their PSP Plan membership card upon entry to the facility. Visiting military members are REQUIRED to present their military ID to staff. Drop in members are required to complete the sign-in sheet located at the front desk.

Specific programs at the Fitness and Recreation Centre may require a valid PSP Plan membership card and/or military ID to be shown before registration or purchase can take place. 

16.  Breaches of the PSP Code of Conduct 

PSP Staff shall report any breach of the PSP Code of Conduct to their direct supervisor, who shall notify the appropriate chain of command in accordance with established procedures. Where circumstances warrant, the Military Police can be engaged for support, and administrative and/or disciplinary action may be taken against the patron.

Administrative and/or disciplinary action may be taken against DND employees or CAF members in breach of this PSP Code of Conduct.
