Swim For Life Instructor Course

The Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor course prepares th einstructor to teach and evaluate the swimming strokes and related skills found in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program.  Candidates acquire proven teaching methods, planning skills, and a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques.

Prerequisites:

  • 15 years of age by the end of the course and Bronze Cross certification (need not be current).

Instruction & Certification:

  • Current Swim Instructors teach and certify candidates in all levels of the Swim for Life and Canadian Swim Patrol programs.   The Lifesaving Society deems it certifications to be "current" for 24 months from the certification date.

Swim Instructor Course Content:

  • This course is 20 hours in length.
  • The Swim Instructor Pack includes Instructor Manual, Swim for Life Award Guide, Teaching Swim for Life in the Leadership Binder.
  • Recertification:  Instructors remain current by recertifying within 24 months of the last certification date.  Recertification is through the Society's professional development point system.

Costs and Course Dates:

  • May 8th -- 1630 to 2030
  • May 9th and 10th -- 0830 to 1700
  • May 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th -- 1630 to 2030
  • PSP Plan Members -- $250.00 
  • NON-PSP Plan Members -- $300.00
