RUCK & ROLL  |  TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 | 0800 HRS

Shearwater Flyer Trail (meet at Shearwater Fitness Sports and Recreation Centre)

DISTANCE 12 KM (6 km out and back)

LOAD 25% OF BODY MASS: Please load bag as close to required weight as possible. Scales and extra weights available on the day of event, please let us know if you require additional weight for rucksack prior to.

Weight Verification: Bags will be weighed both before & after the race to ensure it meets the standard. To be eligible for the prize, your ruck must weigh the minimum weight mentioned above.

Who Can Participate: Open to all CAF members - no prior ruck experience required!

Recreational Dodgeball League at Stadacona Fitness & Sports Centre

  • Games run Tuesday nights between 1600-2000

Get ready to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge! Join our Recreational Dodgeball League for a fun and active season of friendly competition. Whether you’re new to the game or a seasoned player, all skill levels are welcome. Sign up individually or with a team and enjoy weekly games in an inclusive, fast-paced environment focused on teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun. 

Flexible participation options! Sign up alone or on a team. All skill levels welcome. Open to military, DND civilians and civilians with military sponsorship. Established teams are required to have a minimum of 50% military representation on their roster.

WOMEN’S LEARN TO POWERLIFT SEMINAR

Building women’s knowledge and confidence in powerlifting

FLEET FITNESS & SPORTS CENTRE

  • Tuesday Sept 15 & Sept 22 from 1200-1500 (with guest speaker) 
  • Thursday Sept 17 & 24 from 1100-1200

Tuesday seminars include guest Amy Muench who is a strength & nutrition / women’s menopause specialist and 12x Canada Powerlifting National Record Holder.

  • Part 1 (September 15) will cover Amy’s background in the sport, an introduction to powerlifting and competition, and hands-on technique practice.
  • Part 2 (September 22) will cover nutrition, recovery, and training strategies, along with a hands-ontraining session in the gym.

PSP Hockey Skills Camp

Join us for our annual Hockey Skills Camp for a week of skill development and competition. Get ready for the hockey season and have some fun before school starts back up again!

U9/U7

P02 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge is back again this year and registration is open! 

The PO2 Craig Blake Memorial Fitness Challenge is a sprint triathlon for military and DND personnel consisting of a 300m swim, a 6.5K mountain bike, and a 2K run. Participants may complete the swim, bike, and run legs as an individual or complete a single leg of the race as part of a relay team.

Location: MacDonald’s Beach

Eligibility: Active and Retired Military, NPF and DND civilians

MacDonald Beach is open for the season!

Macdonald Beach will be open from June 29th to August 30th, 2026.

  • Monday – Sunday (7 days a week)
  • Open 1100 - 1700 hrs
  • MacDonald beach gate will be opened at 1030 and locked at 1730 each day.
  • Free admission.
  • Lifeguarded, swim only in the supervised area.
  • NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS PERMITTED ON THE PREMISES.

The beach may be closed to private events from time to time. Please contact the Shearwater Fitness, Sports, and Recreation Centre to confirm. Only military units can book pavilions and BBQs. When pavilions are not in use by a unit they may be used by the public. A lifejacket loaner station will be available at the Lifeguard Hut. There is no drinkable water station at the beach, please bring your own water. No motorized boat launch. No canoe or kayak rentals at the beach. Patrons may bring their own canoes or kayaks and launch them from the designated area.

Shearwater Yacht Club offers a wonderful year-round air-conditioned facility for your formal or casual gatherings such as wedding receptions, birthday parties, Christmas parties, bridal and baby showers. It is also a great setting for workshops, retreats, and small meetings. Bartender service is available for hire as part of the facility rental fee. The setting is in a private location on Halifax Harbour with ample free parking.

Participants should be familiar with basic lifting movements (squat, bench press, deadlift). Powerlifting experience is an asset but not required.

CAFATP (CAF Athletic Trainer Program)

The CAFATP offers a variety of courses to CAF members and full time NPF employees to develop CAF qualified athletic trainers through a graduated program that prepares them to support CAF athletes at regional, national and CISM sporting events.

PSP Prenatal and Postpartum Program (PNP3)

The PSP Prenatal and Postpartum Program (PNP3) is a fitness and wellness program for CAF members during pregnancy and the postpartum period. PSP Reconditioning offers an ongoing fitness class as well as personalized programming to support the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines of engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity over the course of one week (over at least three days). This program is designed to help accumulate effective active minutes with the over arching goal of reducing risk of overall pregnancy health concerns and to increase strength and activity levels in the postpartum period.

This class is open to all CAF members within this population even if the member has injuries and/or physical limitations. The class locations/days are:

  • Stadacona - Monday & Thursday
  • Shearwater - Tuesday & Friday

Get involved in your unit’s fitness by becoming a CAF FORCE Evaluator

This qualification will enable personnel to conduct the FORCE Evaluation IAW the FORCE Evaluation Operations Manual. Please note – PSP Staff must be the lead evaluator to test Regular FORCE members. CAF Evaluators can only evaluate Reserve Force members unsupervised. Opportunity to assist with FORCE testing upon successful completion of the workshop.

2026 Workshops:

  • 11 Sept 26 (nomination deadline: 07 Aug 26)
  • 04 Dec 26 (nomination deadline: 30 Oct 26)

Location: Fleet Fitness and Sports Centre from 0730-1530

Prerequisites:

  • Successfully completed the FORCE evaluation in the past 12 months
  • Rank of Corporal (Cpl), Sailor First Class (S1) and above 
  • Currently qualified in Standard First Aid and CPR

You must complete about 3 hours of DLN modules and an exam prior to the scheduled workshop.

1,000 LBS CLUB

A fun, low stress opportunity to test your one rep max squat, bench and deadlift to get your name and total added to the plaque.

How does it work?

Following warmups, lifters will be given three attempts (per lift) to establish their one rep max on the back squat, flat barbell bench press and either the sumo or conventional deadlift. Lifters who achieve over 500lbs or 1000lbs totaled across their three lifts will be eligible. 

Lifters may use: 

belts, weightlifting shoes, knee sleeves and wrist wraps.

Lifters are not permitted to use: 

knee wraps, singleply or multiply powerlifting gear (including briefs), slingshots, or wrist straps. 

Video submissions are not accepted, members must be evaluated in-person at the Fleet Fitness & Sports Centre.
