Beyond the Uniform

Explore identity, purpose and strengths after military service

  • 0900 - 1200
  • Transition Centre

A medical release from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) can bring significant changes for both the Veteran and their family. Roles, routines, relationships and plans for the future may shift as military service comes to an end.

Beyond the Uniform is an in-person workshop for medically released CAF Veterans and their adult family members. Through guided reflection and practical discussion, participants will explore identity, personal strengths, core values and sources of meaning beyond military service.

What will you explore?

During this small-group workshop, participants will have opportunities to:

  • Reflect on identity beyond military roles
  • Recognize strengths shaped through military and family experiences
  • Reconnect with personal values and sources of meaning
  • Explore how roles, routines and priorities may evolve
  • Learn from others navigating similar changes
  • Begin shaping what the next chapter may look like

A shared transition with individual experiences

Medical release can affect Veterans and family members in different ways.

Veterans may be adjusting to changes in professional identity, routine, purpose and connection to military life. Family members may also experience changes in their own roles, responsibilities, relationships and plans for the future.

Beyond the Uniform creates space for both perspectives. Participants will be invited to reflect on their individual experiences while building a greater understanding of how identity and purpose can continue to evolve through transition.
